Another milestone was reached last Thursday (8th Feb) when our loco’s wheels were loaded ready for their journey to The South Devon Railway for tyre turning. The driver finishes fixing the chains that secure the wheels to his low loader.
A closer shot of the wheels with our drivers at the front of the trailer and the pony truck wheels at the rear with Dunrobin’s driving wheels (in white and rust) between our drivers and the pony wheels.
Last time I mentioned the pony truck's “reins”. This picture shows the pony trucks "reins" - the triangular structure behind the wheels with the pivot hole nearest the camera. The big spring near the top of the pictures part of the mechanism which helps the pony truck carry out its guiding role when the loco is moving forwards.
