Overhaul update

With the cab roof safely inside the workshop, a start has been made on applying two coats of white undercoat to the underside.

Work has also continued on securing pipework below the cab floor. Bracketed in place are three steam pipes to the sanders, with oil pipes to their left. The vertical pipes are brake, left, and steam feed to the injector.

Below the tender, SVR volunteers have fitted the final part of the brake rigging, the leading pull rod on the left side. This would have been a very awkward job.

In the boiler shop, more of the patch screws have had their square heads removed and were then peened over.

The fitting of the front tube plate has allowed the small patch to the front of the barrel to be finish welded.

And work continues on the new regulator valve, the two components are here seen together in the machine shop.

This is the grid in the superheater header, and over which they slide to control the steam supply to the cylinders.

More new parts for the steam supply: these form part of the main steam pipes between the header and valve chests.
