Overhaul update
A selection of photos showing the work on the rear drag box. It has been decided that the rear parts of the main frames need to be replaced with new material to ensure maximum life from the new drag box and main frames. This means that about 1 metre of the rear of the frames will be cut away and replaced in order to provide good, flat mating surfaces for the new drag box sides. The existing part of the frames is wasted where the old drag box fitted and if kept would mean that further wastage would quickly occur. Replacing that part of the frames should mean that the new drag box and frames will last for 20 years or more.
The photos show progress on the new drag box bottom and sides – the strips are temporarily bolted in place so that the bottom part can be offered up and tack welded ready for complete welding later.
