Overhaul update
Overhaul update
The reverser haas been reassembled as seen here and is now ready for refitting to the Left hand side of the cab when it has been fully riveted back in place.
The new steel doorplate for the firebox with the rivet holes already drilled. Note - the plate is seen upside down and is not the full height of the firebox because about a quarter of the original is staying in place so this plate will be welded to it.
Two views of the pony truck from the rear and the front showing partial completion of its re-assembly. It is now almost completely re-assembled. The big spring is the front “side control” spring awaiting re-fitting, the rear one has yet to be made ready.
Both springs have now been re-fitted.
The new cab floorboards are now being cut and assebled by one of the volunteers who is a retired woodwork teacher whose hands can be seen on the left.
The most recent of our work on new lubrication pipes can be seen here under the Right hand side of the cab ready to feed oil to the firebox damper mechanism relay. The long spindle with the square end in the background is the Right hand or fireman’s side injector water valve spindle.
